Born into a family of musicians, Alexander Chaushian is considered one of the most promising cellists of the young generation. Artistic director of the Pharos International Chamber Music Festival (Cyprus) and of the Yerevan Festival, he won, as a young man, first prizes at the Mozart Competition in Verona and at the International Music Competition of Holland, as well as the Summis Auspiciis Prize of the Young Concert Artists of New York. In 2005, Alexander Chaushian also won the special prize offered by the Munich Chamber Orchestra in the ARD Competition. Today he divides his time between performing and teaching at the Royal College of Music in London.
