Considered one of the most recognized violists of her generation, Diemut Poppen leads an international career performing as a soloist as well as in many chamber music ensembles. Alongside her intense performance career, Diemut Poppen is also a successful teacher. Her students have won international and orchestral competitions, often holding first viola positions in famous orchestras where they also lead brilliant careers as chamber musicians and soloists. Currently she is professor at the Haute École de Musique Vaud-Valais-Fribourg (Sion site, assistant to Corinne Contardo), at the Hochschule fuer Musik Detmold (Germant), and at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia – Madrid (Spain).
Her repertoire is very extensive and includes many contemporary works and pieces composed for her. She has also made numerous recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Live Classics, Capriccio, Tudor, Teldec, and DakApp.
