About

Violinist Lucie Robert, a Montreal native, is celebrated for the expressive lyricism and tonal beauty of her playing. The New York Times praised her “melting tone” and “wonderfully supple approach to phrasing.” She continues the violin tradition of her mentor, Josef Gingold.

A sought-after pedagogue, Lucie Robert has taught at the Manhattan School of Music since 1988 and received the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service in 2023. She is also on the violin faculty at Mannes College of Music. She has given master classes at prestigious institutions worldwide, including Seoul National University, the Beijing Central Conservatory, and the Tokyo College of Music.

Lucie. Robert has served as a jury member for international competitions such as the Montreal, Fritz Kreisler, and Isang Yun competitions. She frequently contributes to the “Violin Channel,” and her article “Play from your heart, exploring expressive fingerings” was featured in The Strad.

A winner of the First Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition, she has performed as a soloist with major orchestras across North America and appeared in recitals with pianist Jeffrey Cohen. She has also collaborated with artists like Menahem Pressler and Philippe Entremont.

Lucie Robert is active in summer festivals, having performed at events such as the Bowdoin and Fontainebleau conservatories, Meadowmount, and the Texas Music Festival.
