Valentin Uryupin has established close artistic partnerships with orchestras and opera houses as a conductor in both the symphonic and operatic fields, and been acclaimed for his “highly-energetic, super-precise and sensitive conducting” [Der Standart] “with an elegant naturalness, always placing virtuosity above showmanship.” [Bachtrack].
He has worked with orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony, Antwerp Symphony, Berlin Radio Symphony, ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Netherlands Philharmonic, and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. As an opera conductor, he has led productions at the Bavarian State Opera, Dutch National Opera, Frankfurt Opera, Teatro Regio Torino, Stuttgart State Opera, New National Theatre Tokyo, and the Bregenz Festival.
Born in Ukraine in 1985, he won the Sir Georg Solti Conducting Competition in 2017. Prior to this, he was an award-winning clarinetist with over 20 international competitions.
