The Sion Violin Music Foundation moves to the Pôle Musique
After eleven years in the peaceful little courtyard of the Place Ambuel in Sion’s old town, the Fondation Sion Violon Musique has just moved to a big new house a few hundred metres further north: the Pôle Musique, Route du Rawyl 47, 1950 Sion. You’ll currently find us on the ground floor of the main building, but from October we’ll be occupying offices in the administration building.
Work on the old HES-SO Valais-Wallis building, which began in spring 2022, is not quite finished; some scaffolding still adorns the façades, and you can still smell the raw concrete and construction dust on the upper floors. However, in the very near future, at the start of the 2024 academic year, students from the Conservatoire Cantonal and the HEMU – Valais-Wallis will be playing their instruments in this vast music centre, which already houses the EJMA Valais. The Harmonie Municipale will also be joining this centre of musical excellence.
Classes at the Tibor Varga Music Academy, which opens on 8 July, will all take place in these new premises, while right next door, the Aula FXB will host masterclass concerts and several student concerts. The Sion Festival ticket office is also located at the Pôle Musique. However, we recommend that you order your tickets over the internet or by phone, because while our offices are accessible, the space is still under construction. Just a little more patience and we’ll be able to welcome you to our brand new premises.
