What an incredible final!
In front of a full house and a delighted jury, our three finalists shone with performances more impressive than the last. For the second consecutive edition, the youngest contestant won the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition 2025.
At the end of a thrilling final on Saturday, August 30 in Sion, Aozhe Zhang (17) triumphed over his two competitors, Maria Lundina (25) and Reika Sato (26), who were awarded the Second and Third Prizes respectively.
In the new concert hall at Noda BCVS, the three finalists each performed one of the greatest violin concertos, accompanied by the South Czech Philharmonic and wind players from renowned Italian orchestras, conducted by Valentin Uryupin.
In total, 23 young violinists under the age of 30 took part in the public rounds of the competition, which recorded a 7.5% increase in participation (160 entries) compared to the previous 2023 edition.
Prizes worth over CHF 40,000 were awarded.
