The British Ying Lai Green was awarded a scholarship to study double bass at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and then at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she graduated with the highest honours. After a brief stay in Germany, she landed her first position with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, her career has taken her through the ranks of many orchestras, both symphonic and chamber. Ying Lai Green is currently principal double bass of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and holds the same position with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. In addition to this intense orchestral activity, she is a regular guest soloist and teacher at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
