About

The Ukrainian mezzo-soprano Lena Belkina studied at the Glière Music Institute in Kiev and then at the National Academy of Music of Ukraine, before finishing her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig, from which she graduated with distinction. After winning first prize in the Borys Hmyria International Singing Competition, she began her career as a member of the Leipzig Opera Company and then the Vienna Staatsoper. It was with a production of La Cenerentola (Rossini) directed by Carlo Verdone that she was revealed to the international critics. Since then, Lena Belkina has been a regular guest on the finest opera stages (Teatro Real in Madrid, Grand Théâtre in Geneva, National Theatre in Prague, Malmö Opera, La Monnaie in Brussels, etc.).
