Julie Depardieu

About

Julie Depardieu began her screen acting career with Josée Dayan, but it was a few years later that she came to prominence in Claude Miller’s La Petite Lili. Her role earned her a double César honour: Best Supporting Actress and Most Promising Actress. Still under Claude Miller’s direction, she received a third César in 2008 for Best Supporting Actress for “Un secret”.

She has become one of the most prominent film actresses of her generation, moving from family drama to romantic comedy and social crime fiction. Since 2018, she has played the forensic doctor in the TV series Alexandra Ehle, broadcast on France 3.

Her stage work is equally notable, with numerous appearances alongside directors such as Michel Fau and Salomé Lellouch, earning her several Molière Award nominations. Her latest show, La Misérable, a one-woman performance by Catherine Privat, is currently running.

A passionate classical music lover, she staged Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann and directed The Magic Flute in February 2024, adapted for children as Une petite flûte, at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. For several years, she also wrote a music column for France Musique. She regularly takes part in musical readings at concerts and festivals.
