A concert bringing together two exceptional young artists! Accompanied by the South Czech Philharmonic, violinist Fumiaki Miura and soprano Ekaterina Shelehova present a rich and contrasting program spanning the ages.

Schubert’s Rondo in A major D438 and Fritz Kreisler’s Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen embody the elegance and vitality of the Viennese scene. Composed in 1816, Schubert’s Rondo blends dance themes and dramatic passages in a concerto-like writing, showcasing all the violin’s virtuosity. Kreisler’s three short pieces, by the refined and expressive violinist-composer, pay tribute to the Viennese tradition with sensitivity and lyricism. Complementing this Viennese program, the Divertimento in F major K138 was composed by a young Mozart, aged 16, returning to Salzburg after a trip to Italy. With great harmonic inventiveness, it illustrates all the talent and maturity of the young composer.

Ekaterina Shelehova takes us on a journey between love, melancholy, and hope, through the clarity of Mozartian melody, the grandeur of Handelian singing, and the tenderness of Grieg. At only 15, Mozart composed his opera Ascanio in Alba, from which the aria Se il labbro più non dice is drawn, expressing the inner pain of the nymph Silvia with restrained lyricism. From his suite Peer Gynt, Solvejg’s Lied is one of Edvard Grieg’s best-known songs, expressing solitude and suspended time with overwhelming simplicity. This same simplicity is found in the heartrending Lascia ch’io pianga from Handel’s opera Rinaldo.
