During this 62nd edition of the Sion Festival, the musical marathon returns for the traditional “Music en fête” day! Once again this year, a succession of exceptional artists from near and far will perform over 24 hours in emblematic, and sometimes lesser-known, venues across the city of Sion, alongside a unique collaboration with Concerts du Cœur to offer special shared musical moments within various nursing homes in the city.
The jazz trio Italian Vibes opens the festivities of this 24-hour interlude, before giving way to the soloists of Ouverture – Opéra for an intimate lyrical moment at nightfall. Then, musicians from the Conservatoire Cantonal, the HEMU, and EJMA will accompany you throughout the night with improvisations and original performances.
At dawn, the city awakens gently with the choir Dodeca, whose voices resonate in the Basilique de Valère, before the bagpipes of the Vallensis Highlanders welcome the daylight. Next, the Schola takes over the Château de Tourbillon, continuing this gentle awakening. The morning doesn’t end there! Aurore Grosclaude and Cyprien Lengagne will cross paths with the Ensemble Eolys for two intimate chamber music moments.
Enjoy lunchtime by admiring the great virtuosity of the voices of the sextet SLIXS, followed by the unique performance of the renowned Andrei (percussions) and Nikolay (piano) Pushkarev. One ensemble then continues the day: the Camerata Chișinău, before a final concert dedicated to tango with the Guttman Tango Ensemble.
In partnership with the Schubertiade de Sion, the Conservatoire Cantonal, EJMA, HEMU – Valais-Wallis, Ouverture-Opéra and the Concerts du Cœur, “Music en fête” invites you to experience this wonderful 24-hour musical journey!
All the concerts of “Musique en fête” are free, with the exception of the tango evening featuring the Guttman Tango Ensemble.
