In this day and age, we love labels, which are handy when it comes to – for example – storing music in the bins of record stores or on digital catalogues. Thanks to them, algorithms provide us with consistent and unified lists on a daily basis. Taking logic to its logical conclusion, the music industry has developed the concept of crossover to designate suspicious blends, dubious mixes. It is under this banner that those who have escaped from the dictionary, those who try to escape from fixed nomenclatures and definitions, are classified. And this is how the labels have designated the work of the Philharmonix Ensemble – which, however, was only looking for a bit of fun and an opportunity to travel.

If the word is viewed with suspicion by those who believe in knowledge and good taste, the reality it refers to is probably as old as music itself. Indeed, the boundaries between genres have often been porous, and the wonderful musicians of the ensemble celebrate this mix, a reflection of a world in motion. So, if you’ve always dreamt of hearing Beethoven in swing, imagined Wagner as an author of Argentinean tangos, or if you’ve always dreamed of hearing Bartók where the Roma element is wildly exacerbated, this concert is for you.
