This is the credo strongly defended by Soqquadro Italiano. The ensemble has concocted a daring programme, the anchor of which is the voice – satiny and precise – of countertenor Vincenzo Capezzuto. The singer takes the listener by the hand and leads him into a shimmering universe. At the centre of the set, a wildly coloured Italy, ranging from the virtuosity of baroque arias to the rich popular repertoires, where dialectal languages contribute to a poetics of speech. All around, the beauty of neighbouring music, mixing the whole Mediterranean basin. The notes travel, mingle, merge. Styles respond to each other, dialogue; subtle games of influence are revealed.
