The Lyra Foundation was founded in 1995 by the private banker Dr. med. Hans Vontobel. It supports very talented young musicians from all fields with individual scholarships and scholarships for masterclasses.

The excellence of projects or people funded is paramount. The funding focuses on a program of individual scholarships for musicians from abroad in Switzerland or for Swiss musicians in Switzerland and abroad. Grant applications are subject to an evaluation process, coordinated by the Secretariat and the Board of Directors.

To act adequately in such a sensitive area as the promotion of music, the Foundation works with a minimum of overhead costs. The official rules are flexible and the amounts of financing personalized. Many Lyra Foundation Fellows have received international awards and have found their place in international musical life.
