We are nearing the end of the wonderful journey that is the 60th anniversary of the Sion Festival, and we are determined to celebrate it all the way through with joy and gratitude, happy to share these special moments with you. From Tuesday 27 August, six magnificent concerts or spectacles await us, so let’s make the most of them!
For our final rendezvous with you, dear audience, the Sion Festival will also look beyond the usual, both in terms of genres and venues: black light theatre with the IMAGE Theatre in Savièse, a fusion between jazz and Romanian music with the Preda’s Project, and virtuoso burlesque brass in Grône with the Mnozil Brass. Chamber music will take the other half of the programme: three concerts featuring Janine Jansen will explore a repertoire spanning four centuries, from Bach to Dubugnon, with a Swiss premiere to boot.
We look forward to seeing you again for one last festival week!

27.08, Sion Cathedral: Variations Goldberg in trio
Originally composed for harpsichord, the Goldberg Variations represent a pinnacle of Bach’s oeuvre, one that (almost) every keyboard player dreams of climbing. Following in the footsteps of Dimitry Sitkovetsky, Janine Jansen, Timothy Ridout and Daniel Blendulf have arranged this monumental work for string trio, and will perform it in Sion as a true musical feat.
