About

Iris Scialom started playing the violin at the age of four. After graduating from the CRR of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés she was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris at the age of 13 in the class of Stéphanie-Marie Degand, Catherine Montier and Thibault Vieux. During her career, she has had the chance to benefit from the teaching of other great violinists such as Suzanne Gessner, Roland Daugareil, Christian Altenburger and Miriam Fried.  Iris is very interested in early music as well as contemporary music and opera. During orchestral sessions at the Conservatoire de Paris she has worked with Paavo Järvi, Matthias Pintscher and the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Jean-Claude Casadesus and Bertrand de Billy. She won the Prix d’Exellence des Clés d’Or, a First Prize at the FLAME Competition and the Prize for the best contemporary interpretation of the Ginette Neveu Competition with Eric Tanguy’s Sonata Breve. This year, Iris was 1st violin solo in Handel’s opera Julius Caesar conducted by Philipp von Steinaecker and also played Debussy’s sonata at the Ministry of Culture. She has just obtained her Bachelor’s degree and will continue her studies with a Masters degree. She then plans to study abroad.
