About

John Hodian studied at the College for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, where he earned a master’s degree in composition and conducting. He also spent several summers at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado, where he studied piano and improvisation, as well as literature and poetry. His music combines powerful Armenian inspiration with classical compositional techniques and jazz. While teaching composition and music theory, John has had a successful career in film and television music. Over the past 15 years, he has composed the soundtracks for more than 250 documentary films and won the New York Emmy Award for “Best Music for a Documentary”.
