About

Mathieu Herzog is a multi-talented artist: after being a founding member and violist of the Ebène quartet for more than ten years, he turned to orchestral conducting, creating the ensemble Appassionato, for which he is currently the artistic director. Winner of a number of prestigious awards, including the first prize of the ARD competition in Munich, Mathieu Herzog performs in the largest venues, alongside illustrious colleagues such as Philippe Jarroussky, Mitsuko Uchida and Menahem Pressler and many brilliant orchestras. Passionate about history and literature, he is also interested in writing, currently working on a biographical opera project around the figure of Georges Bizet.
