Pavel Vernikov and the SVM Foundation honored by the Bourgeoisie of Sion

We are proud to announce that our Artistic Director Pavel Vernikov and the Fondation Sion Violon Musique (SVM) were awarded the Prix de la Bourgeoisie de Sion 2021-2024, worth 10,000 francs, on Friday March 8. The award was presented by the President of the Bourgeoisie, Antoine de Lavallaz, in the presence of the Bourgeoisie Council and the Board of the SVM Foundation.

This recognition represents a wonderful anniversary gift for the Fondation and its festival. The Sion Festival celebrates its 60th birthday this year. Don’t miss this jubilee edition, which runs from August 16 to September 4, with a surprise “extramural” concert on September 4! We’ll be announcing the program in early May. So stay tuned!

We look forward to seeing many of you there.

« A violinist of international renown »

« For its Prix 2021-2024, the Bourgeoisie Council has unanimously chosen Mr. Pavel Vernikov, internationally renowned violinist and Artistic Director of the Sion Festival for several years, as well as the Fondation Sion Violon Musique,” said Antoine de Lavallaz, President of the Bourgeoisie de Sion. “Awarded once every legislature since 2004, this prize is given to a person or organization that has distinguished itself in the arts, literature, science or sport, and whose activity or work has highlighted the Bourgeoisie de Sion, the City of Sion or the Canton of Valais. ».

« A big honor »

“This is a great honor that rewards my long commitment to the musical life of Sion and the Valais,” said Pavel Vernikov, who has been artistic director of the Sion Festival since 2013, and was also professor of violin at the HEMU – Valais-Wallis for 11 years. “I’m even more excited about this, as I’m soon to become a citizen of Sion. Originally from Ukraine, Pavel Vernikov has lived in Sion since 2012 and is in the process of obtaining a white cross passport.

« A true recognition »

«The Bourgeoisie de Sion has supported us for many years, both financially and by lending us wonderful premises. Today’s award is a real recognition of the work we’ve accomplished and the artistic quality of our activities, to which Pavel Vernikov has brought a new, highly creative breath of fresh air”, rejoiced Olivier Vocat, President of the Fondation Sion Violon Musique. “We are proud and grateful that the Bourgeoisie has chosen us».
