The Tibor Varga Academy celebrates its 60th anniversary with 60 concerts
The Tibor Varga Music Academy is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. In addition to the 26 masterclasses taking place between 10 July and 13 August, you can attend six professors’ concerts and over 50 students’ concerts – all free of charge – in the central and lower Valais, from Lens to Martigny. So, there’s no need to wait until August and the Sion Festival to enjoy some great musical experiences in enchanting locations and a friendly atmosphere!
The collaborations with the Fondation Louis Moret in Martigny and the Fondation Opale in Lens, successfully launched last year, are continuing with three new events. Pursuing a well-established and much-appreciated tradition, two concerts will be held at the Lac Souterrain St-Léonard and one at the Fondation de Wolff in Sion – in collaboration with Schubertiade Sion. We invite you to discover the programme for these professors’ concerts below and to share with your friends and family.
You can also come and applaud our students, most of whom will be performing in public places or churches: the Arcades de la Grenette, the Musée de la Nature and the Jesuit Church in Sion, as well as the Church of Vex and the Ancienne chapelle in Les Haudères (as part of the Festival des Haudères). The young musicians from the Orchestra Camp (Campus Musicus) – which this year is taking place in Italy – will be presenting the fruits of their labour on 25 July in the Gardens of the Baladin theatre in Savièse and on 26 July at the Chapelle d’Ovronnaz.
