Theatre and toys take central stage at Sion Festival 2026

For our second week of the festival, it’s all about theatre and toys – with music, of course, still playing the main role!

This Thursday, 27 August, the performance Una Madre blending theatre, music and live art will bring to the stage a mother’s poignant account: that of Mary, the mother of Christ. This human and universal story will be brought to life by the actresses Vittoria Scognamiglio and Eloïse Vereecken, accompanied by a unique musical design devised by the pianist and performer Alvise Sinivia. Treat yourself to this intense sensory experience!

Are you only moderately keen on the length, the grand scale and the intensity of The Ring of the Nibelung? Then this narrative concert is just the thing for you! On Saturday 29 August, Julie Depardieu will narrate Wagner’s Der Ring with humour and wit, accompanied by the sober music of the ensemble minui. The French adaptation of Loriot’s text was written by Olivia Seigne and Alexandre Vogel. A truly enjoyable experience, combined with a world premiere, awaits you!

On Sunday 30 August, the world of childhood will take over the concert hall for a family event full of surprises. With creativity, humour and virtuosity, the Playtoy Orchestra will bring musical toys to life, whilst spanning the centuries and a range of musical styles. It will invite you and your family to share this fun experience with him. Your children’s favourite musical toys are welcome!

Do not miss the concerts in the third and final week (3–6 September) either, which is dedicated to chamber music and Baroque music!
