About

Swedish musician Daniel Blendulf studied the cello with Torleif Thedéen at the Stockholm Edsberg Institute of Music and continued his studies with Heinrich Schiff at the UDK in Vienna. In 2006 he was nominated “ECHO Rising Star” and subsequently toured major concert venues across Europe as well as New York’s Carnegie Hall. As a soloist he has performed with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Jesús López Cobos and Andrew Manze. He was a member of the Zkvartett String Quartet, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra under Claudio Abbado.

 

His chamber music partners include Amihai Grosz, Timothy Ridout, Janine Jansen, Denis Kozhukhin, among others. In the coming season Daniel will perform at festivals including Verbier Festival, International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht, Røros and Sion Festivals. Further chamber music projects are planned across Europe including at venues such as Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Luxembourg Philharmonie and Wigmore Hall London.

 

As a conductor Daniel Blendulf has worked with Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and he was chief conductor of Dalasinfoniettan.

 

Daniel Blendulf plays a Vincenzo Panormo cello from 1791.
