Created in 2009 by the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra for its shows for young audiences, the Tour du monde dans un fauteuil de Jean Duperrex immediately attracted a very large audience and this “musical journey” has been resonating for almost ten years, without interruption, in venues in Switzerland – and elsewhere.

The idea is simple, and infinitely seductive: to offer children an imaginary escapade allowing them to discover, for each region mentioned, a characteristic instrument and music associated with it. This is followed by rich sounds and powerful timbres, whose variety makes all the richness, from the horn of the Alps of our Swiss mountains to the Middle Eastern hangar, passing through the fujara of the Slovak shepherds or the balafon of West Africa. This exciting journey also allows the presentation of the most diverse musical styles, from Caribbean folklore to the more urban music of 20th century America, without forgetting the richness of Argentine tango – and many other wonders that the ten paintings of this abundant show invite you to listen passionately.
