Janine Jansen has longstanding relationships with the world’s most eminent orchestras and conductors. Season 2026/27 features special residencies with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic as well as the London Symphony Orchestra.
As “Portrait Artist” of the London Symphony Orchestra she joins Sir Antonio Pappano for the world premiere of Richard Dubugnon’s Sonnenring, Mozart’s Violin Concerto No 5 under Nathalie Stutzmann and chamber music with Sir Antonio Pappano.
She performs Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto on an extensive European tour together with Lahav Shani and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra as well as with Semyon Bychkov and the Czech Philharmonic. Jansen returns to Prague later in the season for performances with Czech Philharmonic of Szymanovski’s Violin Concerto No 1 with Sir Simon Rattle and Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with Jakob Hrůša. Further engagements include performances with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks/Mäkelä, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic/Oramo and Bancroft, NDR Elbphilharmonie/Gilbert, Oslo Philharmonic/Gražinytė-Tyla, Camerata Salzburg, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande/Nott, Luzern Sinfonieorchester/Sanderling and Swedish Chamber Orchestra/Fröst.
To mark Beethoven’s 200th anniversary Janine Jansen curates a Beethoven festival at Concertgebouw Amsterdam featuring the composer’s complete cycle of violin sonatas with her longstanding recital partner Denis Kozhukhin while also joining the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Kazuki Yamada for performances of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto.
Further recitals are planned with her musical partners Denis Kozhukhin and Alexandre Kantorow throughout Europe and the Far East in Taiwan and South Korea.
Janine records exclusively for Decca Classics. Her last recording features Sibelius Violin Concerto and Prokofiev Violin Concerto No 1 together with Klaus Mäkelä and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and was met with high critical acclaim throughout.
She is the Founder and Artistic Director of the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht. Since November 2023 she is Professor of Violin Studies at Kronberg Academy where she will host a festival weekend “Freundschaftsspiele” in May 2027.
Janine studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek, Philipp Hirshhorn and Boris Belkin.
She plays the Shumsky-Rode Stradivarius from 1715, on generous loan from a European benefactor.
