Mamikon Nakhapetov is one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation. His extraordinary talent shows not only in his international performing career as a solo performer and chamber musician, but was widely acknowledged by numerous awards won at Piano Competitions. He is frequently invited to take part at International Music Festivals at home and abroad too.
Mamikon Nakhapetov won quite a number of International Piano Competitions in Tbilisi, St. Petersburg, Yerevan, Cagliari, Bratislava, Roma, Bergen, Verona, Istanbul, Poertschach, Campillos, Paris, Ferrol. Moreover he participated at several famous Competitions like Geza Anda Competition in Zurich, Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and Bach Competition in Würzburg.
Born in Tbilisi, Mamikon Nakhapetov started his musical education as a pianist and violinist at the Tbilisi Central Music School and got his Bachelor and Master Degree Diplomas at the Tbilisi State Conservatory studying with Nodar Gabunia and Nana Khubutia.
Throughout his studies in Georgia Mamikon was awarded scholarships of the Foundation of Georgia’s then President Eduard Shevardnadze, New Names, Heinrich Neuhaus Foundation, as well as those of the pianists Elisabeth Leonskaja and Manana Doijashvili.
Mamikon Nakhapetov continued his postgraduate education at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts with Eliso Virsaladze (Piano) and Helmut Deutsch (Lied) and on obtaining his Konzert-and Meisterklassen Diplomas he now proceeds with his teaching activities as Assistant Professor at the same University.
