About

In just a few years, the young Sara Ferrández has become one of the most outstanding viola players on the European scene and her career has taken off in an impressive way. Born in Madrid in 1995 into a family of musicians, she studied in her native Spain before joining the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik in Berlin and then the Kronberg Academy. A member of the Berlin Philharmonic’s Karajan Academy since 2019, she has also regularly collaborated with Daniel Barenboim’s West Eastern Divan Orchestra. Sara Ferrández plays a David Tecchler viola from 1730 and a Nicolas Léonard Tourte bow, both generously provided by Stephan Jansen on behalf of the Stretton Society.
