Tibor Junior Competition | 2nd Round
22.08.24 > 10:00

> Pôle Musique – Aula FXB

Description

The last stage for the young violinists before they reach the final of the Tibor Varga Junior Competition! During this 2nd round, the candidates will once again explore a vast repertoire, ranging from Franz Schubert to the present day.

The Serbian composer Ana Sokolović is proposing a creation specially written for this fourth edition. In a universe marked by the rhythms of Balkan folklore, her music, imbued with playful images, is inspired by different artistic disciplines, from theatre to dance, via the visual arts. The candidates shortlisted for the 2nd round will introduce us to the world of this composer who writes to “tell a story [and] build dreams for the listener”.

The Concertino for violin and orchestra, Op. 42, composed by Mieczysław Weinberg in 1948, requires the performer to master their sound. Lyricism, expressiveness and sensitivity define this work by a composer strongly influenced by his contemporary Dmitri Shostakovich.

Schubert was barely 19 when he composed Konzertstücke D 345 and Rondo D 438 for violin and strings! Already characteristic of the Viennese composer, these two pieces combine grace and elegance with expressive harmony. These concertante pieces will reveal all the talent of our young violinists.

Come along and support the next generation of violinists during this 2nd round!
