Concert in favour of the Swiss Solidarity, for the people of Ukraine.
The charity concert was initially realized in favor of the SPA Valais. The current events encouraged us to review the beneficiaries of this evening, with the great kindness of the SPA.
Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals was composed in 1886 and premiered the same year during the Mardi Gras celebrations. This light-hearted work, in fourteen short, eminently expressive tableaux, is (rightly) considered a little gem of orchestration with a sparkling sense of humor, designed to make children aware of music. But this whimsical Carnival is also a marvelous mishmash, in which the composer has slipped – alongside children’s songs – fragments of Offenbach, Rameau, Rossini or Berlioz, joyfully pastiched. The procession thus summoned is of a delightful fantasy, with an intact freshness. The music is perpetually inventive, both accessible and learned, irreverent and poetic – quite literally irresistible.
The Sion Violin Music Foundation, in collaboration with the HEMU Valais-Wallis , invites you to an exceptional gala concert in aid of the Swiss Solidarity, for the people of Ukraine: the perfect opportunity to (re)experience this enchanted Carnival, with internationally renowned musicians. The score will be enhanced by the funny or delicate texts of the incomparable François Rollin, who will give voice and body to this singular bestiary. We look forward to seeing you in large numbers, for a unique moment of sharing… punctuated by a few surprises, as is customary when Pavel Vernikov is the artistic director!
